To determine whether or not an attack succeeds, the attacking player rolls 2d6 (the attack roll) and adds the result to the attacker’s attack value. The sum is the Attack Total. If the Attack Total is equal to or greater than the target’s defense value, the attack succeeds and is a hit (it is a successful attack roll); otherwise, it fails and is a miss.
If an attack misses, damage is not dealt by the attack. Certain game effects allow characters to evade a hit – evading a hit turns it into a miss.
