About

Thanks for stopping by my About page!  My name is Mark, and I run the site here: Heroclixrules.com

I was introduced to Heroclix way back in 2005 by my brothers who at the time were frequently playing and collecting the game. They tried to get me into playing HeroClix with them, but i just couldn’t get into it.

I wasn’t feeling the ring you had to use to turn the dial, I thought the rules were not very clear and worst of all,  playing as a specific Hero never felt any different than playing as any other character.

I did think the game play was okay, but it still left a lot to be desired.

Fast forward to 2011.

My younger brother brought over the newly updated HeroClix for us to play.  The new rules, new dials, new figures, new powers and abilities were Kick Ass!  After just a few matches I was hooked. Not only were the new rules and abilities great, but the addition of traits and special powers made playing as a unique Hero feel, well, unique.

At the time we were frequently playing Heroscape, Descent Journeys in the Dark and Talisman (which are also great games by the way). But, having grown up huge Comic book fans, playing as our favorite Heroes and Villains quickly took over all of our playing time.

While the gameplay was fun and addictive, what I liked most about HeroClix is how strategic the game and matches could be.  From team selection, to strategically placing characters on the map, to using powers at the right time, there is a ton of strategy involved. It’s often been called Super Hero Chess for this reason.

So… I liked the game and I wanted to learn more about it because I knew we were gonna be playing it a lot.  So naturally I started searching online for clarification of rules and also for strategies.  I found some great resources on rules and general questions – hcrealms.com, heroclixworld.com just to name a few and then i stumbled onto HeroClix Online (which unfortunately is no longer available).  It was HCO that taught me exactly how to play HeroClix and gave me lot’s of practice in the process.  Soon I became a well known member of the HCO community and was often asked for advice and strategies by fellow Clixers.

Which leads me to this site.  I created this site simply because I want to provide a QUICK resource to help answer any newbie questions or to help clarify rules for the experienced players.

With the increased frequency of HeroClix sets coming out this year and in the near future, I want to do my part to help new Clixers learn all the nuances of the game. Once a newbie myself, I realize that new players can quickly get turned off by the sheer number of rules and powers involved.  It can be daunting if you don’t have anyone walk you through and teach you the ins and outs of the game.

Also, I have found that once players get the hang of the game and enjoy playing, the next step is to seek out help with overall strategies, team building, what to buy, where to buy, etc.

Unfortunately, while searching for the best information on these topics what I found was A LOT of information and TONS of options!  In fact, it was so much information, that I felt a bit overwhelmed.

My goal is to help simplify these topics and direct you to the best HeroClix resources available.

As I do more research, I’ll be providing in-depth reviews of figures and sets, videos of my own games and strategies, team building, and much more.

In short, I hope my site here will help you find the answers to all your HeroClix questions and help make playing HeroClix a more enjoyable experience.

Ultimately, I want the world to see what I see. That HeroClix Rules!
